Some security systems feature audio capture devices. These allow a surveyed area to be recorded audibly, as well as visually. But for these devices to capture the audio at a high quality, some extra consideration is required.
Be sure the audio capture device isn’t too close to the source of the sound. If it’s too close, it usually produces a distorted clipping sound. However, if it’s too far from the source you may pick up more ambient noise with the sound being less discernible.
A good distance will depend on the capture device you are using. It may be necessary to disguise or hide the device if it is placed close to a surveyed area.
Listen To The Recording With Headphones
When playing back the recording, headphones will help isolate the audio. This will allow you to hear the audio more clearly than with speakers. This is especially true when using a laptop as its speakers tend to be subpar with a tinny playback sound.
